A true labor of love in Bozeman’s Historic District, this project was honored with the 2025 Historic Preservation Award from the Bozeman Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB) for Outstanding Preservation Project of a Residential Structure.

This remodel is a seamless blend of historic charm and modern architecture, thoughtfully crafted to honor Bozeman’s rich past while embracing the comfort and functionality of contemporary mountain living. Designed for a ski-loving family, the home balances heritage with warmth—pairing preserved architectural details with a fresh, modern sensibility.

By retaining original character elements and integrating timeless, natural materials—such as warm woods, textured stone, and soft, inviting textiles—we’ve ensured that the home’s history remains at the heart of the design. A sculptural modern stairway anchors this approach, creating a bold architectural statement that connects the entry, living areas, and kitchen spaces. Modern lines, expansive windows, and a cozy yet refined interior palette create an atmosphere that’s both elevated and welcoming—perfect for après-ski gatherings, quiet winter mornings, and family life in every season.

The result is a home that feels rooted yet refreshed: a place where the past is celebrated, the present is comfortable, and the mountains are always within reach.

These longtime clients commissioned a full custom build in Central Oregon on a street aptly named Sweeping View, where the Cascade Mountain Range is visible from most rooms. The homeowners both grew up in the small town of Vernonia, Oregon, where they were high school sweethearts. They run a multigenerational, family-owned logging company still based in Vernonia and now led by their son.

Our clients are true salt-of-the-earth people who value natural, high-quality materials, and their story deeply informed the design direction. This sophisticated mountain retreat blends warm modern design with organic elegance. A Baker cinnamon mohair sofa anchors the space, complemented by beams of Oregon Black Walnut, leather lounge chairs, a shaggy silk rug, and layered textures that evoke both comfort and refinement. Expansive windows flood the room with natural light, drawing the eye to the sweeping mountain views beyond, while thoughtful details—like sculptural lighting, a sleek fireplace, and curated accessories—create a perfect balance of rustic charm and contemporary polish. We incorporated custom artisan plaster finishes on both fireplace walls and in the powder bath. This home is filled with thoughtful details, and it has been a pleasure to work with our clients from the ground up.

In collaboration with Patrick Byrne Architects, LeeAnn Baker Interiors designed this 11,000-square-foot car gallery and recreation pavilion for a couple of race car enthusiasts and philanthropists in Medina, Washington. The Pavilion, which is on property adjacent to their main home, reimagines what it means to live and entertain in the Pacific Northwest—merging collector-level passion with community-minded design innovation.

The steel-and-concrete structure balances industrial strength with refined elegance. A glass-floored pavilion hovers above a world-class collection of state-of-the-art sports cars, creating a dramatic interplay between engineering and artistry. A soaring two-story wine tower, sculptural bar, guitar nook, and fully appointed catering kitchen transform the space into a setting equally suited for intimate evenings or large-scale philanthropic events.

Every detail underscores craftsmanship and intent. Advanced lighting and venting systems ensure the garage is as comfortable as the living areas. Plaster walls, custom cabinetry, and tailored furnishings lend warmth to the architectural framework. A concealed lift seamlessly carries vehicles from the garage to the pavilion above, marrying technical precision with effortless sophistication.

Set along Medina’s evergreen-lined shoreline, the Pavilion reflects the Pacific Northwest ethos of understated luxury and purposeful innovation. It is at once a retreat, a gallery, and a hub for community engagement—an environment where design elevates lifestyle without compromising authenticity.
